"We question many things in life, mentally and verbally, as we live; but we all have failed at least one time to question our attitude, behavior, and character in that moment of pain and hopelessness."

-Roy H. Howard, Jr.

About The Author

"We are born to die--yet, as we live, we are strangers to ourselves until we find that person inside who defines who we are."

                                                                                               - Roy H. Howard, Jr.

Roy H. Howard, Jr., is a relationship intervention self-enrichment instructor.  For more than 20 years, he has been helping people re-evaluate their position in socially challenging relationships. His training began at Fort Hood, Texas, as a drug/alcohol adviser, conducting individual substance abuse assessments with soldiers and their families.  Roy has volunteered and taught successfully in the federal and state prison systems in Texas for more than five years.

Not only does Mr. Howard reach out to others through his unique teaching style, he also reaches out using his gifts and talents as a musician/composer.  He has worked as a volunteer for AIDS Services of Austin,  as a youth /adult music director, and mentor for the Austin Independent School District.  In these positions he worked with multicultural groups from a non-judgmental perspective.  Roy participated in  the AIDS Conference in Austin, Texas,  with over 1500 attendees, with a 60+ multicultural youth choir performing  one of his written compositions, "I Need a Friend,"  written specifically for the occasion (They were showered with a five minute standing ovation).  Mr. Howard is an ordained minister of music and founder of Comfort Ministry which produced its outstanding CD, "In Trouble Times, God can Give You Peace of Mind."   Roy H. Howard, Jr., presently has a songwriting contract with Paramount Group in Nashville, Tennessee.

Working With Inmates

Roy Howard, Jr., began writing about relationships shortly after a fellow minister invited him to assist in his prison ministry service.  After Roy's closing remarks, the chaplain asked if he could speak on secular topics, as well, to encourage men and women inmates. Roy accepted the challenge and developed a unique style of presentation for the inmates. Through these inspiring classroom discussions in the Texas state and federal prison systems, Mr. Howard had a positive impact on inmates with effective results. He then created a program relating to relationships which eventually evolved into the writing of the workbook, Relationships--It Begins and Ends with You.
